We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Sales Manager, GTS Energy & Materials.

You will be reporting to the Regional Head of Energy & Materials (E&M), GTS and supporting other Sales Managers in the team. You’ll have regular client engagement and communication with internal stakeholders to make sure client requests are dealt with in an appropriate fashion. You will be involved in the preparation of numerous documents, both internal (e.g. credit applications, annual reviews, client plannings, etc.) and external (e.g. client pitches, term sheets, responses to RFP’s).

In this role you’ll:

  • Provide support and assistance to Senior Sales Managers with day-to-day client engagement, profitability calculation, call reports and other ad hoc tasks
  • Draft credit memos or annual reviews in relation to structured transactions
  • Join client calls along with the opportunity to lead some calls as when ready under the supervision of the Senior Sales Manager
  • Engage with Middle-Office, Client Services and Operations teams to ensure client queries and service delivery are actioned efficiently
  • Engage with internal stakeholders such as relationship bankers, portfolio management, credit, legal, compliance, tax etc.
  • Review legal documentations in relation to financings (vanilla as well as structured finance transactions)
  • Develop expertise to help Senior Sales Managers drive and deliver as per HSBC’s strategies and growth initiatives
  • Conduct sales performance analytics - using CRM systems such as CME and income reporting tools such as Omnia to understand the revenue stream of the business and identify trends. This includes the identification of missing fees/charges and the coordination of action to rectify

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Knowledge of global trade finance products and market solutions
  • Knowledge of broader commodity markets and participants
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, presentation and decision making skills
  • Good organisational skills with an ability to effectively prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Strong commercial orientation combined with a customer driven approach
  • Ability to work independently as and when required
  • Ability to interact with senior executives

London office relocation Between January and April 2027, many office-based HSBC employees in London will move from either 8 Canada Square or Queen Victoria Street to one of our new sites at St. Paul’s or Canary Wharf. Depending on when they join, successful candidates may start at an existing office before moving or join directly at a new location. The specific location cannot be confirmed at advert stage and will be discussed during the recruitment process. This does not apply to branch-based or HSBC Innovation Bank roles.
