Job Description

BYD Port Melbourne is seeking a driven and experienced Assistant Sales Manager to support the leadership of our high-performing sales team. This role plays a key part in driving sales performance, supporting team development, and delivering an exceptional customer experience in a fast-paced, high-growth dealership environment.

As part of a technology-driven and rapidly expanding EV brand, you will work closely with the Sales Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, support sales consultants, and ensure strong processes and results across the department. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced automotive professional looking to step into or further develop their leadership career.

What you will be doing:

• Support the Sales Manager in daily sales operations and team performance
• Assist with reporting, budgeting, and monitoring departmental performance
• Lead by example across the full sales process from enquiry to delivery
• Identify and prospect new retail customers within the local market
• Build strong relationships and deliver a high-quality customer experience
• Support, mentor, and guide Sales Consultants to maximise results
• Promote finance, insurance, and aftermarket products in collaboration with internal teams
• Represent the dealership at events and maintain a professional brand presence

What you need:

• Previous automotive sales experience (essential)
• Exposure to leadership or team support responsibilities
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• High level of organisation and administrative capability
• Confident computer skills and ability to work with dealership systems
• Proven ability to support and motivate a sales team
• Results-driven mindset with strong work ethic
• Current driver’s licence and Australian working rights
