Job Description

Job Location 221st Street Cambria Heights - Cambria Heights, NYSalary Range $20.17 - $24.47 Hourly

Essential Functions:

•Assisting in maximizing the functioning of mentally/physically handicapped adults.

•Ensuring quality services to all residents.

•Assigning work assignments to DSP and overseeing Shift Supervisors on their duties.

•Providing staff supervision and oversight of the residence in the absence of Residence Manager or in conjunction with the Residence Manager.

•Collaborating with interdisciplinary team on treatment /behavioral plan and with overall care of the individuals within the residence •May be assigned other tasks and duties by the Residence Manager that is reasonably related to their job responsibilities.

•From direct observations, insures that SS are completing goals according to method.

•From direct observations, insure that SS, when necessary are implementing behavioral support plans accordingly.

•Attend semi-annual, annual and special meetings at schools and/or day treatment programs.

•Communicate professionally with schools and/or day treatment programs when necessary.



Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field, preferred

Skills and/or Experience Required

•Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in OPWDD related field of which 2 years are in a supervisory capacity. Preferably experience in a residential, health or treatment related setting preferred.

•Demonstrated competency in written, verbal and computational skills to document records in accordance with program standards

•Should have the ability to work a flexible schedule if needed to accommodate working with the individuals in the residence and to attend team meetings.

Communication Skills:

•Ability to articulate the company’s philosophy, mission and goals to a varied audience.

•Ability to effectively present information to clients, top management and staff in verbal and written formats.

Mathematical Skills

•Ability to perform basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.

Reasoning Skills:

•Ability to solve practical and intellectual problems utilizing principles of logical thinking.

•Ability to work within general guidelines and minimal supervision.

•Ability to organize, prioritize and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations.

•Ability to recognize the need for confidentiality of information and to maintain such confidences.

Physical Demands:

•Regularly required to speak clearly and hear the spoken word well.

•Regularly required to physically operate routine office equipment such as telephones, computers, etc.

•Regularly required to travel to sites in and outside the company using customary modes of public or private transportation.

•Regularly required to work long, irregular hours, including second shifts and a varied schedule, including weekends, to accomplish essential functions.

•Regularly required to utilize near vision ability to read data and documents, including spreadsheets and reports, in printed form and on computer screens.

•Regularly required to return to work in emergency situations on an on-call basis.

•Regularly required to physically operate a motor vehicle.

•Regularly required to provide physical care for clients and consumers, which may include, but is not limited to bathing, feeding, changing clothes or diapers and pushing wheelchairs.

•Regularly required to physically restrain abusive clients/consumers.

Work Environment:

•Noise level is consistent with levels usually present in an office, education, rehabilitation, industrial, workshop or health related environment.

•Hazards present are consistent with those common to an office, education, rehabilitation, industrial, workshop or health related environment
