ASSISTANT RESEARCH SCIENTIST (Part-time_

New York University Tandon School of Engineering

The Department of Computer Science at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a part-time Assistant Research Scientist to work with Prof. Qi Sun.

The CSE department conducts ongoing research programs in a wide range of areas related to computer science theory, cyber security, analysis, visualization data, computer games, and internet & web research.

Expectations

Candidates will be responsible for conducting research in virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR). In particular, candidates will design and conduct experiments with Unity engine, acquire datasets, as well as performing statistical data analysis with R and Python. Candidates will also publish the results at leading computer graphics and VR/AR venues. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in computer science as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience on VR/AR development is desired.

Salary range

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this part-time position is $30.00/hour, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification. Expected work hours per week is 20 hours per week.

Expected start date and period of employment

Expected start date is February 2026. This position is expected to be for 6 months in duration.

Qualifications

Candidates should have at least a BS in computer science or a related field and 2 years of experience. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
