We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Birmingham! Providing commercial support across major infrastructure projects in the Midlands. Working closely with Project Managers, stakeholders and suppliers, you will help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while managing a diverse range of work packages.

This role promotes hybrid working, with a minimum requirement of 3 days in the office per week.

You‘ll make a difference by …

  • Providing Siemens with post contract commercial support for designated packages of work, including subcontract, materials, and direct labour.
  • Ensuring projects are successfully delivered within cost and time constraints.
  • Assist with commercial management of various work packages as directed.
  • Input into work package change control and management.
  • Provide key commercial interface for responsible work package managers.
  • Assist the commercial team by providing contractual and commercial support to Project Managers and Engineering.
  • Assist with work package cost management, including forecasting, budget management and control.
  • Work with and collaborate with key partners, e.g.: finance, project management, engineering, sub-contractors, suppliers, and client
  • Be responsible for maintaining auditable records for responsible work packages in accordance with contractual requirements


Your role profile may vary from time to time in accordance with business needs. Your annual objective setting with your line manager will outline any additional responsibilities required to meet business or individual development needs for the forthcoming financial year.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to report commercial performance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Strong computing skills in MS excel, project, Outlook, etc

Must haves:

  • Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
  • Good track record in post contract management environment and position, ideally gained in a similar or related industry e.g. rail, aerospace, defense, construction, IT etc.
