The Assistant Project Manager the is coordinating technical and engineering activities during the construction phase of the Project. The role facilitates coordination between the Design Team, the Engineer of Record (EOR), the CPS team, the Contractor, the Owner, and other project stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of engineering services during construction.
Acting as a key interface between the design office and the construction site, the Assistant Project Manager supports the timely exchange of technical information and helps ensure that the approved design intent is clearly communicated and implemented during construction. The role assists in coordinating engineering inputs, design clarifications, and technical reviews required to support construction activities and maintain alignment between the design documentation and site execution.
Working closely with design discipline leads, CPS staff, and the construction team, the Assistant Project Manager helps facilitate the resolution of design-related issues that arise during construction and supports the efficient flow of technical documentation and engineering responses between project stakeholders.
Role accountabilities:
The Assistant Project Manager supports the coordination of engineering and technical activities required for the delivery of Engineering Services During Construction Project. The role facilitates communication and coordination between the Design Team, Engineer of Record, CPS staff, the Contractor, the Owner, and relevant stakeholders to ensure technical matters are addressed in a timely and coordinated manner.
The position assists with coordinating and tracking contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, submittals, site instructions, tracking, and design clarifications requiring input from the design disciplines. The Assistant Project Manager supports the management of technical documentation and facilitates the flow of engineering information between the construction site and the design office to ensure that responses, clarifications, and engineering decisions are properly communicated and documented.
The role also assists with the coordination and review of contractor submittals and shop drawings requiring Design Consultant input, and supports the identification and escalation of technical issues that may impact construction progress. Working with the Engineer of Record and discipline leads, the Assistant Project Manager helps facilitate multidisciplinary coordination and supports the resolution of technical issues arising during construction.
In addition, the Assistant Project Manager assists in organizing technical coordination meetings, maintaining logs and tracking systems for RFIs and engineering actions, and documenting technical decisions made during the construction phase. The role contributes to maintaining effective collaboration between the design and construction teams while supporting the successful delivery of engineering services during construction for the Project.
Qualifications & Experience:
The candidate will hold a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline and will typically have 3 to 7 years of experience supporting engineering or construction activities on major infrastructure, transit, transportation, or large capital construction projects.
Experience supporting construction-phase engineering coordination on large infrastructure projects is considered an asset. The candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of design coordination processes, engineering documentation, and the interface between design development and construction implementation.
Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple technical issues and facilitate collaboration between design teams, construction teams, and project stakeholders. Familiarity with RFI tracking systems, document control platforms, and construction coordination processes is beneficial.
A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for licensure in Ontario is considered an asset but is not mandatory.

The salary range for this position is $71 820 - $106 920. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
