The Opportunity

We're seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of projects across Kapitol's diverse portfolio.

Working closely with Project Managers, Senior Project Managers and broader project teams, you'll take ownership of key project outcomes across procurement, programme, design, commercial and operational activities. Depending on your background and experience, you may support the delivery of projects across:

  • Data Centres
  • Commercial
  • High-End Residential
  • Education

You'll be a critical member of the project leadership team, helping drive programme, quality and commercial outcomes while ensuring seamless coordination across project stakeholders, subcontractors and delivery teams.

This role is ideally suited to someone looking to take the next step in their career and broaden their project leadership capability as they continue progressing towards a Project Manager position. The role aligns strongly with Kapitol's APM responsibilities around supporting project delivery, coordinating across key disciplines and ensuring seamless collaboration between delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the successful delivery of construction projects from commencement through to completion.
  • Coordinate project activities across procurement, programme, design, commercial and operational functions.
  • Assist in managing project budgets, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Support subcontractor procurement, engagement and performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Drive programme, quality, safety and environmental outcomes across all phases of delivery.
  • Coordinate delivery teams and assist in resolving project challenges as they arise.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project performance, efficiency and client outcomes.
  • Support project completion, handover and defect resolution.
  • Contribute to innovation, continuous improvement and best-practice project delivery initiatives.

About You

We're looking for an ambitious Assistant Project Manager with experience delivering construction projects for a Tier 1, Tier 2 or established commercial builder.

You may currently be an Assistant Project Manager looking for your next challenge, or a high-performing Senior Project Coordinator ready to step into a broader project leadership role. Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and driving successful project outcomes.

You may have built your experience across data centres, commercial, education, residential or other complex construction projects.

You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience supporting the delivery of construction projects in an Assistant Project Manager or 2IC capacity within a Tier 1, Tier 2 or established commercial builder.
  • Demonstrated capability coordinating multiple project workstreams across programme, procurement, design and operational activities.
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Sound commercial awareness and an understanding of project financials.
  • Experience working closely with consultants, subcontractors and project delivery teams.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and willingness to take ownership of outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • A commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
