Location: Bradford based, hybrid, working 1-2 days in the office per week, pending office move to Leeds (LS10) from Summer, 2026.

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join the Programme Delivery Team at Yorkshire Water and help us delivery our significant Capital Asset Improvement Programme. Could this be you?

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager who will be accountable to the Senior Project Manager and will be working within the Bioresources team in Programme Delivery. Supporting our Senior Project Manager, you will help deliver projects on behalf of the project Sponsor who to ensure the project meets the performance commitments it is delivering benefits against, whilst remaining affordable.

As our Assistant Project Manager, you will help lead the Collaborative Project Team (CPT) by managing time, cost and quality variables in the definition, implementation and handover/close out phases of the project lifecycle, managing scope within the thresholds agreed with the Project Team

Where you fit in:

As our Assistant Project Manager, you will;

  • Deliver and/or assist in delivering projects from conception to close out through the project life cycle, including multiple projects running concurrently.
  • Be responsible for forecasting and assuring project and programme level expenditure, as well as key milestones in line with wider programme requirements.
  • Ensure that works are planned and undertaken safely – knowledge and experience in construction is essential.
  • Contract administration within the NEC suite of contracts. (Training can be provided)
  • Responsible for identifying, communicating, and reporting changes including the identification and development of risk mitigation measures.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary stakeholders, both external and internal, to achieve project outcomes.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative manner to mediate and resolve project issues.
  • Good working knowledge of budget management and forecasting
  • Strong presentation skills, able to communicate technical concepts effectively across all levels of the business.
  • Sound influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to make decisions and provide relevant justifications where required.
  • Working towards or willingness to work towards APM accreditation.
  • Strong communication skills

You will also benefit from having:

  • Knowledge and experience in the water and wastewater industry
  • Civil Engineering/Construction project experience
  • NEC Contract experience

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 2 days in the office per week This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
