Job Description

AssisttheProgramDirectorinoverseeing,coordinating,implementation andsupervision ofcomprehensiveservicestochildren,youth andfamiliesat theHighbridge Gardens Cornerstone Community Center asspecified inDYCDcontractualprovisions.Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assistintheday-to-daysupervision of activitiesattheHighbridgeGardensCornerstoneProgram.
  • AssistDirector inmonitoring,reporting,programplanninganddevelopmentofprogramactivities forparticipantsages5-21and theirfamilies.
  • Overallresponsibilityforthesuccessfulprogramimplementationandoutcomeattainment.
  • WorkwiththeDirectortoinsurepromptsubmissionofreportstobothagencyandfunders.
  • Maintainparticipantfilesonsiteaswell asenrollmentandattendanceonlineandmaintainDYCD Online System.
  • Assistwithsupervisionandimplementation ofallactivitiesthatoccurattheHighbridge Cornerstone Center site; i.e. special events, youth civic engagement projects, recruitment events.
  • Helptoprovideadministrative/logisticalsupporttoserviceintegrationstaff.
  • Co-facilitateallorientationsconducted attheCenter.
  • Attendmonthlymeetingsandothertrainingsasneeded.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. The days and hours of work are generally 2:00pm - 10:00 pm,Monday through Thursday, Saturday 9:00am - 5:00 pm.Working conditions and physical demands required:Thedemandsdescribedherearerepresentative ofthosethatmust bemetbyanemployeetosuccessfully perform theessentialfunctionsofthisjob.

  • Abilityandpatience toworkwithchildren andyoungpeople,recognizingtheirexuberanceand juvenilebehavior,particularlyingroupsettings.
  • Remaininastationarypositioneitherworkingatacomputer ormonitoringactivities.
  • Moveforlongperiods,providinginstruction.
  • Travelwhentakingfieldtrips, usingpublictransportation,traversecitystreets,ascend/descend stairs,andbeexposedtooutsideweatherconditions,whileescorting youth.

QualificationsEducation and/or experience required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with youth, or, an Associate Degree with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working withyouth.
  • At least two (2) years’ Supervisoryexperience.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and providing one on one peer mediationpreferred.
  • Experience working with families who face exceptionalchallenges.

  • Excellent social skills demonstrative of empathy andsupport.
  • Excellent organizational and administrativeskills.
  • Excellent written and oratoryskills.
