World Languages
The Department of World Languages invites applications for a full-time assistant professor in Spanish and Second Language Pedagogy. We envision a colleague who will contribute, through teaching, service, and research, to our commitment to student success and to our department’s aspirational statement: “Let your vision be world-embracing.” Primary responsibilities include teaching all levels of undergraduate Spanish language and culture as well as undergraduate courses in second language acquisition, methodology and assessment. The successful candidate will teach both in-person and online courses, for a total of 24 credits per year (12 per semester). This position reports to the Head of the World Languages Department.
Ph.D. in Spanish Language, Second Language Pedagogy or TESOL, or other related field
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:
Experience working in higher education.
To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:
The World Languages Department offers a Certificate of Proficiency for Spanish for the Helping Professions, a Minor in Spanish, a Certificate for Proficiency in Teaching English as a Second Language, and a Minor in Teaching English as a Second Language. As such, this position requires high interpersonal communication skills, the desire to promote student success inside and outside the classroom, and the ability to think creatively in collaboration with colleagues.
Ability to drive off-campus for community outreach events.
