Job Description

VA Connecticut Healthcare System is recruiting a Staff Psychiatrist to function as staff psychiatrist based primarily in the Primary Mental Health Integration Clinic. This facility is affiliated with the Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. The candidate will be responsible for the management of patients who are evaluated and treated by Primary Care and need psychiatric assessment, evaluation and treatment. This means working closely with a team of non-psychiatry physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists and other members of a multidisciplinary team who provide mental health treatment at VA Connecticut Healthcare System. The psychiatrist will also serve as a staff psychiatrist, treating veterans in the mental health service line of VA Connecticut Healthcare system. The psychiatrist will also be involved in teaching psychiatry residents, medical students and other trainees and will also be expected to conduct scholarly work, either in research or education, as part of the position.

Qualifications

Applicants must have successfully completed psychiatric residency training in an accredited, U.S. program, be board certified (or eligible), licensed to practice in CT and legally employable. Preference will be given to candidates with added qualifications in geriatric psychiatry and in interest/experience in working with a population within a VA or other comparable institution; preference will also be given to those with administrative experience in working with a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals a medical setting.
