University of South Florida's Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), home to a world-class, multidisciplinary faculty of speech-language pathologists, audiologists, sign-language interpreters, linguists, hearing scientists and speech scientists. Together, we serve the diverse and growing Tampa Bay community through culturally and linguistically responsive care delivered across schools, medical centers, private practices and community settings.
Our department trains a diverse student body across each of these areas. We offer undergraduate degrees in language, speech and hearing sciences and sign-language interpreter training. The University of South Florida (USF), an AAU member institution, Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders invites applications for a nine-month Assistant Professor position in Speech-Language Pathology.
We especially encourage applicants who are advanced Assistant Professors or candidates with evidence of strong potential for externally funded research to apply. Successful applicants will demonstrate a clear and promising research agenda, evidence of research productivity commensurate with career stage, strong teaching skills, and a commitment to mentoring students and trainees.
Responsibilities of the position include scholarship, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, student mentoring, and service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to the research mission of an AAU institution through high-quality scholarship, pursuit of external funding, and collaboration across disciplines.
We are especially interested in the following research areas in speech-language pathology: early intervention, development and disorders in children with speech (e.g., childhood apraxia of speech, articulation/phonological disorders) or language disorders (e.g., multilingualism and disparities in child language and literacy, children with hearing loss and/or cochlear implants, school-age language and literacy), developmental differences (e.g., autism, or other disorders, educational support for children with speech/language/hearing differences), or specialized interventions for children (e.g., AAC, MMST), child feeding and swallowing. However, all areas of research related to childhood will be considered. The anticipated start date is August 7, 2027.
