The Assistant Professor serves as a faculty member responsible for advancing the academic, clinical, and research missions of the institution. This position supports the promotion of academic excellence, patient care delivery, translational research opportunities, and the overall health and wellness of Arkansans. Faculty appointments are determined based on the specific pathway, discipline, and divisional needs as approved through the institutional appointment process.
The incumbent is expected to contribute expertise within their specialty area through a combination of clinical service, medical education, scholarly activity, and collaborative engagement. This role requires a high level of professional knowledge, specialized experience, and appropriate academic or professional credentials relevant to the assigned department and division. Responsibilities and effort allocation may vary based on faculty pathway, clinical needs, educational assignments, research activity, and divisional priorities.
M.D. or equivalent required.
Completion of an Internal Medicine residency is required, and a fellowship, if applicable.
Responsibilities:
Provide coordination, continuity, and consistency in patient care activities.
Deliver direct patient care in accordance with departmental, divisional, and organizational standards.
Participate in medical education through didactic instruction, bedside teaching, and clinical educational experiences.
Engage in research collaborations and scholarly activities that advance clinical medicine and improve health outcomes.
Promote academic excellence and support the health and wellness of Arkansans through clinical, educational, and research initiatives.
Contribute to translational research opportunities and provide instruction within assigned specialty areas.
Maintain expertise and specialized knowledge within the applicable discipline, department, or division.
Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, trainees, healthcare professionals, and external partners across the organization and community.
Serve in additional leadership or mentorship roles as assigned, which may include fellowship director, division director, service line leadership, resident preceptor, or mentor responsibilities.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with professionals at all organizational levels, as well as with community, industry, and state and federal government partners.
Perform other duties as assigned based on position, discipline, and division needs.
