Job Description

The Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine seeks a full-time psychiatrist to join our interdisciplinary team of professionals providing inpatient psychiatric consult services to patients at the Yale Cancer Center/Smilow Cancer Hospital.

Yale Cancer Center is Connecticut's only cancer center designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute—and one of only 57 in the nation. Smilow Cancer Hospital provides patients with novel, state-of-the art cancer detection and treatment options within the context of patient-centered expert care.

The position involves the provision of direct patient care, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and participation our proactive consultative model and growing Psycho-Oncology program within the Psychological Medicine Section.

The Psychological Medicine Section consists of traditional and proactive psychiatric consult services on medical and surgical inpatient units and 17 integrated psychiatry and behavioral health programs in diverse medical and surgical outpatient settings at Yale New Haven Hospital. Yale New Haven Hospital is the primary teaching and clinical research facility of Yale School of Medicine and consistently ranks among the best hospitals in the United States. Additional opportunities include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

This position includes up to a full day per week of protected administrative/academic time. The position also carries a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor within the Department of Psychiatry, a depending upon the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Candidates must be license eligible within the State of Connecticut and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to function well as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses.
