Job Description

The Department of Surgery at the University of Rochester and Strong Memorial Hospital, located in Rochester New York, is seeking a surgeon-scientist to join the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. The successful applicant will join nine fellowship-trained, board-certified surgeons in the practice of Traumatology, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency General Surgery.

We are seeking a surgeon-scientist with interest and expertise in rigorous scholarship in the field of acute care and trauma surgery and/or critical care. Research focus may include basic, translational, clinical or other areas where academic pursuit will lead to improvements in the treatment of surgically-relevant disease. Opportunities for clinical and scientific collaboration are plentiful. Candidates would have departmental and divisional support, including research-focused time and infrastructure.

Strong Memorial Hospital is a 940-bed, tertiary care referral center serving Rochester and the surrounding Finger Lakes Region of New York State. As the primary teaching hospital for the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Strong Memorial Hospital offers care in 40 different specialties and is ranked as one of "America's Best Hospitals" by U.S. News & World Report. The ACS verified Level I Trauma Center provides care for >3000 injured patients annually.

The Finger Lakes Region is a beautiful place to live and raise a family, offering year-round activities for every season. Qualifications

Candidates must have completed medical school receiving an MD or equivalent and completed a full surgical training residency program.

Candidates must be BE/BC and must be eligible for faculty appointment at the assistant or associate professor level.

Must be eligible for a full NYS medical license.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process
