Position Title: Assistant Professor of Practice in Graphic Design
Supervisor: Dean, College of Liberal Arts
Purpose:
The College of Liberal Arts is seeking a full-time assistant professor of practice to teach in the discipline of Communication Studies as well as work directly with Engaged Teaching and Leaming to provide faculty with multimedia assistance in their courses.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be required to maintain a part-time annual teaching load of9 hours per semester and assist Engaged Teaching and Learning's Center for Teaching Excellence in providing direct support to faculty for all multimedia and digital content needs. The candidate will also supervise the new content creation lab and production studio and assist with scheduling for these spaces. Finally, the candidate will commit to quality involvement and interaction both with students and the university as a whole.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
· Plans and teaches courses as assigned
· Maintains flexibility and willingness to teach in a variety of environments
· Prepares syllabi, instructional materials, coordinates lectures, tests, and evaluates
· Maintains highest possible standards of classroom instruction
· Regularly keeps office hours and maintains willingness to be receptive to students both in person and through email
· Actively serves on university committees
· Actively participates in institutional meetings
· Demonstrates willingness to learn and enhance professional skills through regular professional development and other activities appropriate to higher education faculty
· Stays updated on new information and developments in field of instruction
· Assists with curriculum development
· Provide instruction and support to faculty through Engaged Teaching and Leaming
· Supervise the content creation lab and production studio housed in Mulder Hall serving as point person for these spaces
· Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor/s
Qualifications:
Relevant experience in media and content creation. Further graduate study encouraged.
Hours:
Eight (8) hours per day, Monday - Friday 40 hours a week
