Job Description

The Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment in Piano Pedagogy beginning 1 July 2026. This is a three-year, renewable, non-tenure eligible position. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include teaching piano lessons to music majors in non-performance areas (e.g. composition and music education majors), teaching courses in piano pedagogy to piano majors, and supervising piano class for all Bachelor of Music students. The faculty member will contribute to the musical life of the Eastman School of Music by participating in recruitment, auditions, juries, and recitals.

In compliance with the NY Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000. The University of Rochester considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Qualifications

Candidates should be experienced pedagogues and have a proven record of outstanding teaching in individual as well as classroom settings. Candidates should have a master’s degree or higher in piano performance or pedagogy.
