Job Description

The Corcoran Department of Philosophy at the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Philosophy specializing in ancient philosophy, broadly construed. Areas of competence are open, but teaching competence in Plato and Aristotle is required. This tenure-track position is expected to begin August 10, 2027. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses per semester at the graduate and undergraduate levels, perform service to the Department and University, advise students, and conduct research in their area of specialization.

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, applicants must hold a PhD in Philosophy or a related field by the appointment start date.
