Job Description

The Department of History at Tufts University (Medford, MA, USA; https://as.tufts.edu/history/) invites qualified candidates to apply for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Latin American History. We welcome applicants working in any area of early modern and modern Latin America.

The successful candidate will teach a 2-2 course load and will advise undergraduate and MA students as needed. Expected courses include a two-part survey on Pre-Modern/Modern Latin America as well as upper-level courses. This position offers the possibility of engagement with Latin American Studies, International Relations, and other related programs and departments. The successful candidate will join the Department with a target start date of September 1, 2027.

The Department of History at Tufts consists of fifteen full-time faculty members. It offers MA programs in History and History & Museum Studies and maintains a Ph.D. program in Modern South Asia.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in History or a related field and demonstrate a strong research profile.
