The Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University seeks to fill a position in Hebrew Bible at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure track. The successful candidate will be able to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Hebrew Bible and related areas as well as supervise doctoral students in the field. Preference will be given to candidates with strong philological skills in Hebrew and related ancient languages and training in the cultures of the ancient Near East. Ability to relate to other aspects of a comprehensive program in Jewish Studies, including NYU’s study away site in Tel Aviv and its Archaeology program, is an asset. The appointee is expected to have a doctorate in a field related to the Hebrew Bible. The appointment will begin September 1, 2027, pending administrative and budgetary approval. Doctorate must be in hand by August 31, 2027.
