The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Graphic Design in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree program beginning in August 2027. We seek an engaged educator and active practitioner with dedicated expertise in User Experience/User Interface Design and Motion Graphics. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our curriculum in interactive media, delivering high-impact studio instruction, and contributing to the academic and professional development of our undergraduate students.
York College of Pennsylvania (YCP) thrives on cross-disciplinary collaboration, active creative practices, and faculty mentorship. We are a tight-knit community where your voice shapes the curriculum, your active studio practice is celebrated, and our gallery system and industry-standard studios provide a vibrant canvas for both you and YCP students. Located near major creative and cultural centers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region (Baltimore, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.), we are situated in a region with thriving creative entrepreneurship opportunities and community-engaged art. YCP can offer the perfect launchpad to connect your students with major cultural hubs while thriving in a supportive, collaborative peer environment. Additionally, the York art community provides opportunities for professional networking, internships, industry partnerships, and community engagement. York City's vibrant arts community further supports creative entrepreneurship, experiential learning, and partnerships that connect students with contemporary design practice.
The successful candidate will teach an engaging mix of foundational and advanced BFA courses, spanning from typography, identity systems, design research, and professional practice to UX/UI, and motion graphics with the opportunity to modernize and expand program offerings to reflect emerging trends in interactive media, emerging technologies, and contemporary design practice. Beyond cultivating student excellence in the studio environment, the successful candidate will provide dedicated mentorship through academic advising, engage in service to our academic community, and maintain a robust, active creative or scholarly practice supported by the institution.
We are looking for a collaborative colleague who can bring a healthy mixture of classroom experience and real-world insight.
