Job Description

Job Location: Rockhurst University - Kansas City, MO 64110Rockhurst University's School of Education invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education position. This is an 11-month, tenure-track position with a start date of January 4, 2027. Responsibilities include teaching doctoral courses and supervising doctoral students’ research projects as well as supporting undergraduate and graduate-level teacher candidates. Applicants must have demonstrated an active research agenda. A specialization in areas pertaining to Special Education is preferred.
The School of Education supports undergraduate educator preparation programs, graduate certificates, Master of Education programs, and EdD in Education and Leadership programs. Graduate programs are delivered using online modalities and the Ed.D. in Education and Leadership is an online, cohort-based program with four concentration areas: K-12 Education, Higher Education, Healthcare Education, and Organizational Leadership. This Jesuit -inspired Ed.D. program provides a distinctive approach to developing educational leaders and health care educators prepared to face the challenges of todays accelerated rate of change.
The faculty teaching load will include courses such as Foundations of Special Education, Research Methodology I and II, and Research Capstone I and II. The tenure-track faculty member will engage in scholarship activities; provide service to the university, department, program, and community; and advise and mentor students.
Minimum

Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in special education, educational leadership, or closely related discipline
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Evidence of teaching excellence in higher education
- Evidence of an on-going scholarly agenda
- Experience with directing graduate student research experiences
- Experience with advising students
- Experience with course development, implementation, and assessment
Preferred

Qualifications
- A minimum of three years of experience teaching at the college level
- Innovative pedagogy, including online teaching and learning practices
- Research interests in fields such as special education, teacher education, health care education, or education administration / leadership
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods
- An awareness of and interest in the educational mission of Jesuit higher education
- Evidence of demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds
