
We seek an Assistant Professor of Communication with expertise in the practice and theory of rhetoric. The ideal candidate has a PhD in Communication Studies, with specialties in Speech Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Rhetoric. Preference will be given to candidates with college teaching experience. Experience coaching debate or competitive argumentation, including research, evidence evaluation, and oral advocacy, is a plus.
The position will support Lipscomb’s Powers of Words Rhetorical Sequence (POWERS) curriculum by teaching the Communicating to Influence course. This is a 4/4, tenure-track, 10-month position. The projected start date is fall 2027 with the potential to begin spring 2027. Lipscomb University is a Christian liberal arts institution located in the heart of Nashville.
