Valparaiso University’s undergraduate-only College of Engineering offers ABET-accredited degrees in Civil Engineering. The College of Engineering at Valpo is currently ranked in the top 10% of Engineering Programs (non-doctoral) in the 2026 U.S. News and World Report rankings.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses, developing a research program that incorporates undergraduate students, and providing service to the department and profession. Teaching responsibilities could include courses in structural engineering, introductory civil engineering courses, the civil engineering capstone design sequence, and general engineering courses.
Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and have the ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues. The candidate shall have the legal authority to work in the USA, shall have completed a Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related discipline, and will have obtained their professional engineering license prior to the conclusion of the tenure track period. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates with previous teaching experience.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. (ABD considered) by August 2027 in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.
