Job Description

The DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY at DENISON UNIVERSITY invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track position starting in fall 2027, with expertise in or related to analytical, computational, inorganic, or materials chemistry. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and the ability to develop a robust, independent research program that recruits and engages undergraduates to produce published research. Teaching responsibilities include classroom and laboratory instruction at the introductory level, intermediate level (analytical, inorganic, physical, or polymer chemistry), and an advanced course in the candidate's field of expertise.

Our department’s ACS-accredited program offers degrees in chemistry and in biochemistry and has excellent classroom and laboratory facilities with a broad range of available instrumentation for both teaching and research. Qualifications

A Ph.D. and subsequent research experience are required. The priority date for full consideration is September 14, 2026.

2) curriculum vitae, including a publication list;

3) undergraduate and graduate transcripts;

4) a statement of teaching philosophy addressing approaches to classroom and laboratory courses at the introductory and intermediate level, and a new course in their specialty;

5) a statement detailing the applicant’s proposed research program (5 page maximum).

Applicants are encouraged to include how they will incorporate rapidly evolving technological tools (such as data analytics, cheminformatics, machine learning, or generative AI), highlighting how such tools will be leveraged to benefit teaching and learning, research, or students’ career readiness and, if relevant, any existing or potential connections with industry, government, or non-profit sectors.
