The Chemistry Department at The College of Wooster invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry to begin in August 2024.The position is renewable for a total of three years pending a positive teaching performance in 2024-2025. We are looking for a broadly trained chemist with a commitment to teaching excellence. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment.Primary responsibilities include teaching general chemistry courses and laboratories within one’s specialization, with additionalpossible teaching opportunities in the chemistry curriculum and in mentoring undergraduates within Wooster’s nationally-recognized Senior Independent Study research program
The College of Wooster is an independent college of the liberal arts and sciences with a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. The Department of Chemistry has eight full-time faculty members and graduates approximately 15-20 majors annually, many of whom pursue advanced study and/or careers in chemistry. The department is housed in a modern teaching/research space that was renovated and expanded in 2018 to integrate with our life sciences facilities. Department instrumentation accessible for use in student-mentored research includes a modern 400 MHz NMR spectrometer, a liquid chromatography high-resolution quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer (LC-QTOF-MS), and a liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass spectrometer (LC-QqQ-MS), among other laboratory facilities.
