Assistant Professor – Cell Biology, Tenure Track/Fall 2027

Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Assistant Professor – Cell Biology, Tenure Track position. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City. Eastern serves approximately 5,000 students, offers a wide range of undergraduate majors in the arts and sciences and professional studies, as well as selected graduates. Eastern is one of four universities in the Connecticut State College and University System (CSCU). The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits.

Department: Biology

Position: Assistant Professor – Cell Biology, Tenure Track

Qualifications: Ph.D. in a biological science with expertise in cell biology are required. Postdoctoral

experience and expertise that complements the current strengths of the department are desired.

Applicants must demonstrate an aptitude for teaching undergraduates and a willingness to develop a

productive research program involving undergraduates.

Position Description: Responsibilities could include teaching the introductory Cell Structure and

Function course and upper-level courses for biology majors in the candidate’s area of expertise. The ability

to teach Biological Chemistry and/or Histology is preferred. Additional teaching opportunities may

include developing a course in the Eastern Liberal Arts Core (ELAC) and contributing to a Histology

Technician Certification program. In addition to teaching, expectations include developing a productive

research program involving undergraduates, academic advisement, service to the University, and

continued professional development.
