
The Department of Languages and Literatures at Oklahoma State University seeks to hire a full- time faculty member in American Sign Language. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in an undergraduate program that has been steadily growing and has recently had a BA in American Sign Language approved. In addition to maintaining an active research agenda, the successful candidate will teach ASL and Deaf Studies courses to prepare undergraduate students for professional careers as interpreters or as personnel in Deaf services agencies, residential programs, as well as educational and human service settings requiring fluency in ASL. The position also entails assisting in coordinating the ASL Program, conducting advisory board meetings, developing class schedule, coordinating curricular development for the program, and coordinating program assessment. This search is part of an Inequality Cluster within the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate should be willing to teach from a multicultural perspective and to mentor ethnically and racially underrepresented students.
