Job Description

The Public Health Sciences (PHS) Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) seeks a candidate with a research focus on cancer prevention metabolism to join our faculty engaged in population sciences research. We seek candidates focused on understanding the etiology and biological mechanisms of carcinogenesis as applied to human cancer prevention strategies. Specific research areas of interest include but are not limited to: metabolism, nutritional sciences, kinesiology, and toxicology as they relate to carcinogenesis and cancer prevention. Applications are invited for candidates at the Assistant Professor level with a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent doctorate. The successful candidate will develop an independent research program within our collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Faculty will join a supportive and highly collaborative environment that is committed to ensuring the development and success of strong research and mentoring programs. Successful candidates will be invited to join the Cancer Prevention Program, with a potential joint appointment in the Translational Research Program, based on fit with the candidate’s background and training, area of research, and preference. The position may be dry-lab-based, wet-lab-based, or a combination depending on the skills and research interests of the successful candidate. Fred Hutch has outstanding facilities including a state-of-the-art Prevention Center which includes a Human Nutrition Laboratory and Exercise Research Center and a Proteomics and Metabolomic shared resource. Available at the University of Washington is the Northwest Metabolomics Research Center

Qualifications

Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent doctorate), medical doctorate (MD/PhD welcomed) or foreign equivalent.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual base salary range for researchers in this position without a clinical practice is from $188,142 to $210,563.

The annual base salary range for MD physician-scientists with an active practice is highly correlated with the area of specialty and ranges from $233,665 to $501,368.

Pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Pay for faculty positions is based on a variety of factors including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. Faculty without credited time in rank will generally start at the entry rate for their relevant specialty and rank. This position is eligible for relocation assistance or a sign-on bonus.
