
The Department of Psychology at Yale University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology position to start on July 1, 2026 Applications can be from those whose research programs fit into any area of clinical psychology. The successful applicant will be expected to teach a service course (a broader psychology course) and/or a smaller seminar (often on the topic of their choosing). Priority will be given to outstanding scholars who will contribute effectively to research, as well as, the undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring programs of the University.
Eligible applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree at the time of hire.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, research statement (2 parts, see below), teaching statement, and up to three selected publications (published or unpublished). Please also arrange for three letters of recommendation.
Research statements The research statement should consist of two parts (uploaded as two separate documents). One part is the “past research statement” (1000 words max). This should summarize the applicant’s main research activities to date. The second part is the “future research statement” (500 words max). This should summarize the applicant’s plans for research activities over the next 5 years (i.e., if given sufficient funds to conduct research, what does the applicant envision for their work? What questions does the applicant want to tackle?).
Teaching statement The teaching statement (1000 words max) should include a summary of the applicant’s teaching style in (formal courses) and out (mentoring, supervision) the classroom. The applicant should mention the types of courses they would be excited to teach.

The final candidate, upon acceptance of a contingent offer of employment/faculty appointment, may be required to disclose whether they are, or have been, the subject of any disciplinary proceeding (investigation, hearing, etc.) at previous institutions or employers, and may also be subject to a background screening. Candidates who materially misrepresent information on their resume or other application materials are ineligible for hire/appointment.
