POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Cell and Biological Systems at the Penn State University College of Medicine invites applications from outstanding Ph.D. and/or M.D. scientists for a Tenure-Track position, to be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department is within the thriving research environment of the College of Medicine and the renowned Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, located in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
The Department has broad strengths in cellular and molecular approaches toward basic and translational research. The search welcomes applicants with strong records of research accomplishment in any areas of biomedical research that may complement and/or expand the research interests of the Department.
The Department has a range of strengths including: inflammation and innate immunity, virology, cellular signaling and metabolism; structure/function of membrane proteins, cytoskeleton and contractile proteins; mitochondria function; microvascular regulation, diabetes, neurodegeneration, cancer biology.
The Department enjoys strong interactions with the Penn State Cancer Institute, the Heart and Vascular Institute, the Institute for Personalized Medicine, the NIH-supported Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the outstanding Core Facilities and Research Resources within the Penn State College of Medicine, including the Cryo-EM Center.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
