The Assistant Professor will join the Department of Psychiatry at Georgetown University as a .60 FTE faculty member, contributing to the Thrive Center for Children, Families, and Communities’ mission to drive innovation, research, and educational excellence through their work with Thrive Innovations. The candidate will play a central role in advancing a rigorous pipeline of entrepreneurial partnerships, developing critical market frameworks, designing academic operational infrastructure, and guiding faculty in building, measuring, and scaling world-class educational experiences.
The Instructor will dedicate their effort to the academic development of the Thrive Studio’s K-12 vertical, driving the center's research, scholarship, and thought leadership in school-based systems. In this role, the candidate will conduct rigorous sector analysis to establish an original, replicable framework for evaluating entrepreneurial partnerships in K-12 education settings. The Assistant Professor will spearhead qualitative and quantitative investigations into the K-12 ecosystem to uncover systemic, unmet needs and identify high-impact, innovative models for field implementation. Furthermore, the candidate will cultivate strategic, knowledge-driven collaborations with national, state, and local scholars and experts to build an integrated database of research-connected partners to support ongoing systemic inquiry.
The Assistant Professor will also dedicate their effort to the academic co-leadership of Thrive Academy. They will oversee the conceptual design, pedagogical rigor, and evaluation metrics of the center’s educational offerings. The candidate will closely advise and collaborate with faculty members to guide course conceptualization, curriculum development, and the integration of advanced pedagogical innovations. Tasked with maintaining a cutting-edge educational portfolio, they will systematically monitor empirical research, evaluation data, and emergent training needs from the field to propose, vet, and refine new academic programs and structures. Additionally, the Instructor will contribute directly the university's instructional mission by delivering high-quality training modules, presenting research webinars, and providing academic mentorship to students within the broader Thrive and University communities. They will contribute to publications, policy papers, and white papers as appropriate.
PhD in mental health, social work, counseling, public health, special education, child development, or
related field required. At least five years’ experience with systems development related to school-based systems is required. Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, faculty coordination, digital/hybrid learning ecosystems, or managing academic and professional training initiatives. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to equity-informed, culturally responsive scholarship and a capacity to design complex operating frameworks from scratch
The projected salary pay range for this position $66,000-$74,400@.60% FTE/$110,000-$124,000 @ 100%FTE, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation for this position. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
