Job Description

We seek to hire an Advanced Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure-track) for a joint position in Political Science and Environmental Studies. The substantive focus of research is open, but the successful candidate should focus on U.S. politics and public policy as related to mitigation of and/or adaptation to climate change. Political Science would especially welcome candidates whose research includes how U.S. environmental policy intersects with urban politics, interest groups/advocacy, state and/or local politics, media and communication, or gender and politics. The department is home to a range of approaches and methods, which we see as a strength, and successful candidates are expected to develop a strong record of research excellence. The teaching load is 2-2, equally split between Political Science and Environmental Studies. The prospective candidate will contribute to the Political Science program at the undergraduate and graduate curricular levels. The courses for Environmental Studies will include an introductory course and a senior seminar. The expected start date for this position is July 1, 2027.

Interested candidates should submit the following materials:

  • •Cover Letter
  • •Curriculum Vitae
  • •Statement of Research
  • •Teaching Statement
  • •Teaching Evaluations (if available)
  • •Writing Sample
  • •Contact information for at least three professional references

Please send all of the above no later than September 15, 2026. All materials should be uploaded directly into WaveWorks.
