Department of Pediatrics, Section of Nutrition has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor. This position will provide clinical care within a pediatric nutrition clinical program at Children's Hospital Colorado and build a research career in a nutrition-related topic.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical
Assess, evaluate and treat pediatric patients within the Nutrition/GAP clinic, and Lifestyle Medicine program if desired and/or needed
Ordering of labs, x-rays and other relevant tests.
Using results to make an informed decision on treatment plan.
Provide ongoing treatment for families, including working with multidisciplinary team to provide care.
Care coordination with Primary Care providers, as well as with multidisciplinary team members (dietitians, psychologist, medical providers)
Complete charting in timely manner, according to standards established for Children's Hospital Colorado providers.
Contribute to development of new clinical programs involving the Section of Nutrition
Phone follow up with patients and other care providers, regarding results, treatment plan, etc.
Providing service at Children's Hospital Colorado Main Campus and Network of Care facilities across the metro area.
Academic, Educational, and Administrative Duties
Provide support to the leadership team with operations/programming
Initiate and support quality improvement projects/processes
Provide pediatric nutrition related talks to Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, and other entities on AMC (both undergraduate and graduate students), community, physicians, and/or specialty clinics as requested Research Expected to apply for external funding sources
Research
Expected to apply for external funding sources
Work to establish an independent program of extramurally funded research. Theexpectation for Assistant Professor faculty is a minimum of 40% extramural funding.
Lead and support publishing high quality scholarly papers and providing research presentations on relevant subject areas/areas of expertise
Identify primary research mentor to advise and assist in developing research program
Participate in and support the broad goals of the research agenda of the Section of Nutrition
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
MD/DO (or equivalent)
Board Certification or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado by appointment start date
Minimum of 2 years' prior experience in pediatric medical nutrition care
Condition of Employment:
Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:
Fellowship trained
Experience within an interdisciplinary team
Prior experience with electronic medical record systems including Epic
Experience with maternal-fetal and infant health and nutrition, lactation and breastfeeding
Experience with maternal-fetal and infant health and nutrition, lactation and breastfeeding
Experience with Obesity Medicine
Experience with in-patient consultations related to pediatric medical nutrition
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and ability to complete clinical scholarship activities including but not limited to quality improvement processes, evaluations of clinical effectiveness, and research in the area of nutrition
Ability to efficiently consult in both an in-patient and outpatient academic setting with high customer service skills
Strong working knowledge of pediatric nutrition assessment and management
Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse patients, faculty, and other professional colleagues

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$170,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
