Pittsburg State University seeks a faculty member committed to high-quality teaching for a full-time, tenure-earning position in the Department of Psychology and Counseling (www.pittstate.edu/psych). The candidate should have both training in and active research in human cognition and/or sensation/perception. The position begins on August 10, 2026, and will include primarily undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach elementary statistics (Research Methods I), research methods (Research Methods II), cognitive psychology (Cognitive Processes), Sensation & Perception, and/or other courses such as Human Factors, as assigned. The successful candidate may also be able to develop other courses related to their interests. Scholarly activity in human cognition and/or sensation/perception that includes undergraduates as assistants or collaborators is expected, as is service to the department, college, and university. Preference will be given to candidates who are well qualified to teach Sensation & Perception.

Candidate's must hold a Ph.D. in Cognitive/Experimental Psychology or Cognitive Neuroscience discipline or related field. This degree requirement ensures candidates possess the advanced theoretical knowledge, highly specialized methodologies, and critical problem-solving skills fundamental to this work. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential experience inherent in a formal degree program.
