Premier League Studios are recruiting for an Assistant Producer to play a key role in bringing the stories behind the game to life for audiences around the world. As part of a collaborative and creative environment, you will contribute to the production of high-quality, engaging content that showcases the people, clubs and moments that make the Premier League unique.

In this role, you will be integral to the end-to-end production of the weekly documentary programme, Premier League Stories. Working closely with Producers and Senior Producers, you will help to shape and deliver engaging editorial content for a worldwide audience. Responsibilities will include developing and pitching original ideas, directing shoots, conducting interviews, and guiding post-production in collaboration with editors and graphic designers. You'll also review footage to select the most suitable material, ensure content is optimised for digital platforms, and play an active part in fostering an inclusive team environment.

Additionally, you will be involved in compliance matters and assist with essential production documentation such as risk assessments, location agreements, and contributor releases, while providing support for broader departmental tasks as needed.

The role

  • Assisting the Producers/Senior Producer on the editorial production of weekly Documentary show Premier League Stories, for the Premier League.
  • Brainstorm, pitch, plan and research original story ideas that promote the league, the clubs and players to an international audience.
  • Direct single or multi-camera shoots and conduct interviews with contributors as necessary.
  • Log and review rushes and select suitable material for editing.
  • Lead post-production alongside editors and graphic designers as necessary.
  • Proactively seek collaboration with colleagues in the Digital department to ensure maximum reach of PL Stories content on social platforms.
  • Playing an integral role in developing and supporting others and in shaping an inclusive culture in the PL Stories team and the Programming department.
  • Responsible for adhering to compliance guidelines, as appropriate.
  • Responsible for preparation and co-ordination of shoot Risk Assessments, location agreements and contributor release forms as appropriate.
  • You may also be required to carry out any other duties which are within the scope and purpose of the job.

Requirements for the role

  • Experience leading shoots, edits and other aspects of post-production.
  • Experience of idea generation for long-form or features content.
  • Experience of directing single and multi-camera shoots, sourcing and interviewing contributors.
  • Experience of logging rushes and selecting material for edits.
  • Experience of providing coherent GFX briefs and working with designers to bring ideas to life.
  • An understanding of scriptwriting, digital workflows and of contemporary camera equipment and filming techniques.
  • Good knowledge of the Premier League.
