Job Description

Working Pattern: Typically 5 days in the office with flexible core hours between 8am-6pm

The Role
As an Assistant Print Designer for Womenswear Non-Clothing, specialising in Swim & Beachwear, Nightwear, and Lingerie, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a dynamic, high-growth product category. Your primary mission is to capture emerging print, pattern, and colour trends and transform them into beautiful, commercially successful designs that resonate with our customers across these intimate and holiday-focused ranges.

In this role, your creativity will directly influence our seasonal collections, turning blank canvases into stunning, wearable art. You will work closely with a diverse team of Designers, Buyers, Merchandisers and Technologists to bring your prints to life efficiently and beautifully.

Our Designers here at Next are always looking forward. Looking for that Next thing, focusing on trend and pushing the boundaries of what we can offer our fantastic customer base. Working as a key part of the critical path; creating new and innovative print designs across Womenswear Non-Clothing!

What You’ll Take On

  • Design Versatile Prints: Create and support the development of innovative, beautiful print and pattern ranges tailored specifically for Swim & Beachwear, Nightwear, and Lingerie.
  • Gather Global Inspiration: Undertake inspirational travel and market research trips to spot emerging global print trends, colour palettes, and fabric innovations to keep our ranges ahead of the curve.
  • Translate Trends Commercially: Apply your sharp eye for style, scale, and trend to build distinctive, desirable print collections that align perfectly with NEXT's brand identity.
  • Design to Cost: Creatively work within established price point guidelines and printing constraints without compromising on visual quality, style, or design integrity.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner closely with designers, buyers, merchandisers, tech teams, and print mills to deliver production ready artwork on time and to exact specifications.

What You’ll Bring

  • Technical Proficiency: Essential, expert-level knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Strong experience in creating detailed print tech packs, indexing colorways, and preparing seamless, production-ready repeats for factories is key.
  • Commercial Taste: A great natural taste level, a passion for colour, and a sharp instinct for print trend-spotting, combined with an eagerness to learn, pitch fresh ideas, and support the broader team.
  • Industry Experience: A solid background working within a print retail or supplier environment is ideal, with preference given to those experienced in designing for Swim, Nightwear, or Lingerie and dealing directly with print mills and factories.
  • Collaboration & Spirit: Exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills are a must have. You thrive in a highly collaborative, communication driven environment where ideas are shared freely.
