TITLE: Assistant Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters Degree
  2. Appropriate WV Principal's Certificate
  3. Three (3) years teaching experience

REPORTS TO: Principal of School

SUPERVISORY

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Principal shall assist the administrative head of the school to which he/she is assigned. He or she is recognized as the instructional leader and staff officer of the Superintendent, subject to the limitations of the law and the county board of education regulations

  1. Demonstrates instructional leadership to enhance school effectiveness by improving instructions, and augmenting student performance
  2. Provides purpose and direction for schools/county
  3. Demonstrates cognitive skills to gather analyze and synthesize information to reach goals
  4. Manages group behaviors to achieve consensus
  5. Enhances quality of total school/county organization
  6. Organizes and delegates to accomplish goals
  7. Communicates effectively

Instructional Leadership

Demonstrates instructional leadership to enhance the school' effectiveness by improving instructional augmenting student achievement. Items that may be used to reflect instructional leadership competencies:

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of supervision to improve instruction
  2. Uses the evaluation process to improve instruction effectively
  3. Analyzes a variety of educational data to focus on student achievement
  4. Guides teachers in their professional growth

Proactive Orientation – Views self as the school's/county's leader, initiates action, takes responsibility and motivates others to assist in setting and achieving the goals. Items that may be used to reflect a proactive orientation:

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the board's evaluation policy
