Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining daily batch plant operation, including but not limited to: cement pumping, inspections, greasing, shoveling, and troubleshooting. Coordinates with Operations Supervisor on batch plant maintenance/repair, plant upkeep & supply management. Will also drive water truck in the yard. Reports to Operations Supervisor (ready mix).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with good basic math skills a must.
  2. Valid State of Hawaii commercial driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  3. Heavy equipment operations experience, especially front-end loader and forklift.
  4. Willing to work an irregular schedule including mornings, evenings, & weekends.
  5. Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Good communication skills.
  7. Previous experience with concrete and concrete materials.
  8. Mechanical and maintenance experience.
  9. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs occasionally throughout the day.
  10. Safety minded.
  11. Positive attitude.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Mechanical and maintenance experience.
  2. CDL class B or above.
  3. Experience in ready mix production & inventory management.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes Company’s Purpose, Mission, and Vision statements.

  • Maintain all Waimea batch plant operations, including:
    • Perform plant monitoring, regular maintenance, & minor repairs. Coordinate/schedule third party repair in collaboration with Operations Supervisor as needed.
    • Communicate with RM personnel and dispatch to manage material needs including aggregates, cement, and admixtures.
    • Effectively communicate with mechanics as needed for major repairs on any and all equipment. Assist with managing repair scheduling.
    • Collaborate with Operations Supervisor to ensure all housekeeping duties are performed, including environmental requirements.
    • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) with team members, management, and customers. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  1. Good communication skills at multiple levels.
  2. Good organizational and planning skills with the ability to anticipate future needs.
  3. Collaboration with team members to complete project/repairs in a timely manner.
  4. Collaboration with team members and management to ensure efficient plant operation.
  5. Time management of multiple tasks in a changing environment across several specialties.
  6. Obtain/maintain forklift class V certification.
  7. Obtain/maintain manlift certification.
  8. Knows how to successfully Lock Out, Tag Out, Test Out equipment using Company procedures.
  9. OSHA 10 qualified.
  10. Be physically able to climb stairs and ladders or other physically demanding tasks necessary in performing field inspections up to 80 ft. high.
  11. Able to work in varying environments, form air-conditioned office to dusty, noisy field conditions.
  12. Able to lift and carry heavy items weighing 50 pounds.
  13. Must be able to work in a non-smoking environment.
