Job Description

The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations are achieving company goals. This is achieved by assisting in production, quality control, safety and maintenance tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In coordination with the Safety Manager, perform new hire training, complete required documentation, and implement processes related to safety equipment and the remediation of identified risks. Ensure all documentation is uploaded to the shared drive. Additionally, collaborate with auditors and the Technical Director to prepare for upcoming customer audits, as well as Safe Food and Safe Feed compliance.
  • Manage Plant supplies: diesel fuel purchases, packaging supplies, parts, housekeeping supplies and other miscellaneous items.
  • Administer daily plant production reporting: Complete the daily DOR, manage bag inventory, customer bag order schedules, work with office manager to manage daily tonnage.
  • Oversee day-to-day production operations and collaborate with team members to develop weekend run schedules. Ensure weekend work schedules are planned and communicated in advance.
  • Housekeeping: Mentoring and collaborating with team members, making sure work environments are clean, organized, and prepared for efficiency. Establish, manage and maintain workplace exams looking for continuous improvements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: minimum of a High School Diploma. Additional education and certified training are a plus.
  • Work Experience: a minimum of 5 years of experience in management.
  • Strong Understanding of: Fabrication, Electrical, PDD blowers, Screw Augers, Belts, Airlocks, and air compressors
  • Working on Saturdays or off hours when needed.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds. Working at heights and confined spaces.
  • Strong Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
