Appointment will be made on Grade VI salary scale in line with Government pay policy.
€58,477 to €71,442 LSI
Full Time 35 hours per week

· Organise the functions and procedures of the Patient Accounts Office to guide the overall operation of the team.
· Develop and implement office policies by setting up procedures and standards to guide the operation of the office.
· Manage staff within the Patient Accounts Team in accordance with HR policies and procedure.
· Allocate tasks to staff and monitor performance.
· Ensure responsibilities and objectives are clearly defined and understood.
· Manage and implement all staff related issues in accordance with HR policies and procedures.
· Manage sickness and absence in accordance with hospital policy.
· Develop effective systems of communication within the Patient Accounts Department to ensure team members are kept up to date with organisational priorities, feedback on deadlines and escalate risks.
· The role involves working closely with the Director of Finance and Patient Accounts Manager, providing regular updates on issues relating to the Income of the Hospital.
· The post holder must have the capacity to deal with organisational matters in a confidential and professional manner.
· Work with the Patient Accounts Manager on the day to day running of the Department.
· Ensure the progress of various work streams being run by the office, through planning, development and communication.
· Ensure all targets are met with regard to month end procedures / deadlines.
· Ensure all issues relating to insurance queries, escalated patient queries, etc are dealt with in a timely manner.
· Meet with VHI on a quarterly basis to ensure all KPI’s are being met.
· In conjunction with line manager agree learning objectives designated to meet development goals to improve service and participate in weekely meetings with Line Manager
Selection Criteria:Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria.
(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
(i) Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, otherstatutory health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSEunder Section 38 of the Health Act 2004.
(ii) Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list ofsubjects in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, includingMathematics and English or Irish1. Candidates should have obtained at least GradeC on higher level papers in three subjects in that examination.
(iii) Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalentexamination in another jurisdiction.
(iv) Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on theNational Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and QualityIreland, (QQI).
Note1:
Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a foundation levelpaper is not acceptable.
Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programmeor the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme.
The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.
(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard ofsuitability, for the proper discharge of the office.
· Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
· Proficient in Microsoft packages.
· Experience in management of staff and staff development.
· Proven track record in office management in a healthcare setting.
· Patient Accounts experience.
· Extensive organisational abilities coupled with excellent IT skills.
· Flexibility, problem solving and initiative skills.
