Job Description

The Division of Genetic Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), in conjunction with the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC), is seeking a dynamic tenure-track physician-scientist faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with an interest in inherited cancer predisposition. The candidate will have the opportunity to build a research portfolio, leveraging unique institutional genomics resources which interface with oncology, such as the BioVU biobank which includes whole genome sequencing of 250,000 samples linked to the longitudinal electronic health record. Other flagship genomics and multi-omics efforts at Vanderbilt include the All of Us Research Program’s Data and Research Center, the Electronic Medical Records and Genomics (eMERGE) program, and the Genomic Learning Health System program, among others. Clinical responsibilities will include evaluation and management of patients with or at risk for inherited cancer predisposition through the hereditary cancer clinic, staffed by a team of genetic counselors and physicians. More information about the research, clinical and educational programs in the Division can be found at our website: https://medicine.vumc.org/divisions/genetic-medicine and in VICC can be found at: https://www.vicc.org/research/programs

We welcome applications from individuals who hold an M.D., or equivalent degree, with a strong background in hereditary cancer predisposition, or a related field. The successful candidate will engage in rigorous research, employing computational or experimental techniques to address fundamental questions in genetic medicine.

The successful candidate will be allocated space for their research group and a competitive start-up package to develop a robust research program. We expect candidates to contribute to our faculty's strong commitment to training and mentoring at all levels, which includes classroom teaching and research mentorship.
