Job Description

The Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown University seeks to hire a scholar of Palestinian Studies, to be affiliated with the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS). We seek an academic at the Assistant or Associate Professor level whose research, publications and teaching are dedicated to the study of Palestine, its history, people, politics, culture, and society. Candidates may have disciplinary expertise in any of the social sciences and humanities, including history, anthropology, sociology, political science, geography, and economics. Applicants should have proficiency in written and spoken Arabic, and strong grounding in Arab Studies/Middle East Studies. They will be expected to design and teach courses at the undergraduate and master's level on topics related to their research and expertise. This may include courses on Palestine, as well as thematic or topical issues in Arab and Middle Eastern studies. Georgetown seeks faculty who are generating high quality scholarship, and who are engaged in mentoring a diverse student body. Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. by the time of appointment, with a Fall semester 2027 start.

The position will be housed in the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS), which is an interdisciplinary program with a 50-year history at Georgetown. CCAS offers an undergraduate Certificate in Arab Studies, and a robust MA in Arab Studies Program, as well as active public events and education outreach programming. Tenure Line faculty in CCAS teach a full load and play an active and collegial role in CCAS, the School, and the University. Salary Ranges

In accordance with Georgetown University policies, the 9-month base salary ranges for tenure-line positions at these ranks are:

  • Assistant Professor: $101,165 – $115,000
  • Associate Professor: $129,985 – $146,702
