Job Description

Psychiatric-Mental Health Care Track Faculty Position

Georgetown University Berkley School of Nursing (BSON) is seeking an innovative and experienced educator for the PMHNP Post-graduate Certificate Program. The PMHNP faculty position reports to the director of the PMHNP post-graduate program. Faculty will work closely with the team to carry out all matters relating to the curriculum, course development, course delivery, course quality and evaluation as appropriate. The PMHNP faculty will work collaboratively with the other specialty track faculty in all matter’s curriculum, including clinical placement oversight. We seek a mission-driven educator with strong clinical expertise, a commitment to advancing health equity, and a deep appreciation for the Jesuit values that animate our work.

This faculty position is held on the educator track (non-tenure) in the Berkley School of Nursing at Assistant or Associate Professor rank with scholarship, teaching and service expectations with the following time commitments:

● Teaching: 80 % (18 credits)

● Scholarship: 5-10%

● Service: 5-10 %

Minimum requirements

● Terminal degree (research focused, practice focused e.g., DNP, PhD, EdD)

● Holds certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

● Eligible for an unencumbered RN license in the District of Columbia

● Minimum of 3-5 years academic experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels

● Prior experience with curriculum development, evaluation, and outcomes

● Experience in developing course content and teaching in a variety of learning formats (face to face, hybrid, online)

● Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills

● Demonstrated contributions in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service consistent with appointment on the educator track at the rank of Assistant Professor or above.

● Applicants eligible for hire must hold primary residence in an approved state Academic rank will be offered commensurate with education and experience.

Preferred qualifications

● Additional certifications (e.g., Family Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Informatics)

● Expertise in a variety of teaching modalities including face to face, virtual learning, asynchronous and synchronous learning

● Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and outcome evaluation

Position responsibilities include

Teaching (up to 80%)

● Teaches in area of expertise as needed

● Participates in curriculum and course development

● Develops and implements innovative teaching strategies

Scholarship & Service (10-20%)

● Engagement in scholarly activities such as research, publications and grant writing.

● Participating in program, school, university, and other committees as required.

● Participating in all relevant program and BSON student events as required.

● Didactic and clinical instruction within areas of expertise (including, entry level, graduate-level core, and specialty courses) across multiple teaching modalities.

● Teaching at objective clinical intensives (OCI) in-person on-campus and virtually

Additional responsibilities

● Faculty are expected to teach across a range of pathways (direct entry, undergraduate, graduate) and modalities to meet the needs of the school.

● Attendance at on-campus events consistent with the Faculty Handbook Faculty Roles and Responsibilities (e.g., commencement, school wide events, periodic curriculum and programming meetings)

● Clinical faculty advising for students in precepted experiences

● Participation in faculty governance, including faculty and operations meetings

● On-going professional development and participation in curricular revision and implementation, with a focus on advancing health equity and addressing racism with the program content

● Participate in scholarship and service activities and maintain current clinical practice as it relates to state law for practitioners.

● Collaboration with faculty and staff colleagues, as well as leadership to ensure outstanding program graduates and effective planning and implementation of future initiatives.

● Enhancement of the program’s reputation and visibility through engagement in relevant professional activities.

The projected salary pay range for this position is $120,000 – $140,000, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation for this position. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
