Job Description

Assistant or Associate Professor, Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition, on the Clinical Scholar pathway, who will make significant contributions to both clinical service and academic pursuits.

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Endocrinology and Nutrition at UW. Academic appointments at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. University of Washington assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The selected individual is expected to contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research in endocrine neoplasia. The successful candidate will have clinical responsibilities on the outpatient and/or inpatient endocrinology service based on the candidate’s interests (and institutional need). Teaching responsibilities will include clinical oversite of fellows, informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to learners, providers and the general medical community. The balance of time will be spent in research-related activities. At Fred Hutch, Clinician Scholars are expected to obtain externally funded research (e.g. grants, clinical trials).

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

· MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)

· Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington.

· Board eligibility or certification in Endocrinology (or foreign equivalent)

Expertise in the care and management of individuals with Endocrine neoplasia, including proficiency in ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodules is necessary.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $246,730 to $265,975 for faculty hired at the Assistant Professor rank and from $267,006 to $286,230 for faculty hired at the Associate Professor rank. Pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. Faculty without credited time in rank will generally start at the entry rate for their relevant specialty and rank. This position is eligible for relocation assistance and sign-on bonus.
