Job Description

The Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown University seeks to hire a scholar in Jewish Studies to be affiliated with the Center for Jewish Civilization (CJC). The Center for Jewish Civilization is a vibrant interdisciplinary center within the SFS dedicated to the research and teaching of Jewish history, culture, politics, and international affairs.

The successful candidate will have a research and teaching agenda within the disciplines of political science, international relations, security studies, modern or contemporary history, or a closely related field. The search is open as to research focus. Areas of particular interest include Israel, Zionism, antisemitism, Jewish diasporas, and the politics and international relations of the greater Middle East. Appointment will be made at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester.

Salary Ranges

In accordance with Georgetown University policies, the 9-month base salary ranges for tenure-line positions at these ranks are:

  • Assistant Professor: $101,165 – $115,000
  • Associate Professor: $129,985 – $146,702

Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate an active research agenda, a commitment to rigorous disciplinary methods, and a strong record of publication in leading journals and academic presses, appropriate to their career stage. Candidates should also demonstrate excellence or promise in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Georgetown seeks faculty who produce high-quality scholarship, and who are deeply engaged in mentoring a diverse student body. A Ph.D. in political science, history, or a related field is required by the time of appointment.
