Job Description

Under the guidance of the Night Manager, the assistant Night Manager is responsible for administering all night audit functions while ensuring guest satisfaction and safety during overnight shift.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manages the functions of the Front Office at night, ensuring smooth check in and check out of guests.
  • Prepares the statistical summaries reporting the daily revenue of each outlet and a final summary with total revenue for the hotel.
  • Oversees the completion of the Night Audit checklist. Ensures the Night Audit functions are completed and all reports distributed in a timely manner.
  • Verification and auditing of hotel revenues including credit card and room charges
  • Liaises with Housekeeping, Maintenance and Security to ensure coordination of room activity.
  • Supervises the overnight staff in addition to assisting other departments with their operations.
  • Ensures information and direction are provided to staff to ensure 100% occupancy with few or no relocations.
  • Communicates information on events or policies to staff.
  • Posts charges to guest room accounts as required.
  • Takes reservations as required.
  • Resolves guest problems and complaints to ensure 100% guest satisfaction.
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
  • Help recruit, train and develop all Front Office Associates
  • Ensure all operations and cash handling are done in compliance with company’s policies, standards and procedures
  • Create expectations, lead people, manage processes and hold people accountable for the agreed upon activities and time tables
  • Identify operational challenges and facilitates the development of solutions
  • Analyze, investigate and resolve all guest complaints
  • Ensuring that all associates adhere to all hotel policies, standards, procedures and regulations.
  • Conducting daily departmental pre-shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2 years minimum front desk experience in a Hotel or related industry.
  • Post-secondary degree in tourism or hospitality is preferred.
  • Energetic and outgoing, with a positive attitude, driven to provide an outstanding guest service experience.
  • Must have the ability to coach and mentor team members to further their development.
  • Must have excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills and must be able to interact with all levels of associates and guests in a professional and cordial manner.
  • Excellent organizational, computer, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of Opera is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Canadian and provincial laws.
  • Flexible shift availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Compensation - 68k
