REPORTS TO
Head Men's Basketball Coach
Responsible for assisting in the management and administration of all phases of a successful Basketball program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as Assistant Coach for the LSUA Men’s Basketball Team
- Follow all University, and Athletic Department Policies and Procedures
- Adhere to rules, policies, and philosophies set forth by The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.)
- Responsible for assisting in the athletic education/instruction, development/training and evaluation of student-athletes
- Directs and manages student manager including the delegation and prioritization of administrative responsibilities
- Responsible for the search/recruitment of quality prospective student-athletes
- Works closely with Sports Medicine staff and team physicians to ensure the safety, health and well-being of the student-athletes
- Assists the Generals Athletic Association (GAA) in fundraising activities/events/camps
- Develops a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport and actively seeks to develop new performance methods and strategies
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of and adheres to all applicable LSUA, Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) rules and regulations
- Assist in recruiting of deserving student-athletes, track the academic progress of all players
- Assist in maintaining an ethical and moral code of behavior and living that is expected of the players who are residing on campus
- Assist in implementing the weight and fitness training program
- Works with the Head Basketball coach and University Facilities to keep the maintenance of the Basketball Facility and maintaining equipment inventory
- Assists with other duties/projects as assigned/directed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Experience
- Three years minimum experience in athletics at junior college or university level is preferred. May include graduate level experience and may include experience not directly related to Men’s Basketball.
Other:
- Knowledge of sports rules, officiating, coaching, and tournament scheduling
- Strong organizational and communication skills; and high ethical standards
- Comprehensive computer skills including all Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to operate within an enhanced team environment
- Ability to self-start, be creative, show initiate, and meet established goals and deadlines
Further consideration will be given to those applicants who possess
- A working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations
- Coaching experience at the NAIA level
- Collegiate and/or professional level playing experience
- A current commercial driver’s license (CDL) and/or willingness to attain one
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein or assigned by the Head Coach and Director of Athletics.
