DMBA (Deseret Mutual Benefit Administrators) is a non-profit organization that administers benefits for companies who are owned or affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Assistant Medical Navigator helps health plan members understand their benefits, access resources, and navigate next steps in their care. This role provides standardized education and non-clinical support within the Medical Assistant scope-no assessment, diagnosis, or clinical decision-making.
Training, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- MA certification (CMA/RMA) preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 2 years in care coordination, navigation, ambulatory care, or similar roles.
- Strong documentation skills and comfort with EHRs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote, and Outlook.
- Spanish bilingual skills a plus.
Responsibilities and Expectations
What You'll Do:
- Reach out to members to review recent health needs and offer navigation support.
- Share RN-approved education and connect members with community resources.
- Screen for non-clinical barriers (transportation, cost, health literacy) and escalate clinical issues to an RN.
- Gather and update demographics, communication preferences, and participant-reported information.
- Document all interactions accurately in the case management system.
- Coordinate with RNs and other care team members per protocols.
- Support quality efforts such as gap closure and satisfaction outreach.
What You Won't Do (Scope Clarity):
- No independent clinical assessment, triage, or diagnosis.
- No interpreting symptoms or providing medication counseling.
