Requisition Summary
Manage the overall internal inventory flow and 3PL sourcing initiatives at the Chillicothe plant. Oversee all sourcing projects utilizing data-driven and risk analysis techniques while considering the entire inventory flow model and strategy for the plant. Design, develop, direct, and implement processes and systems to ensure uninterrupted material flow with adequate financial/process control. Ensure that processes requiring plant/division/corporate coordination in areas such as 3PL sourcing management and strategy, material handling equipment safety, and controllable defect mitigation align to company standards. Maintain constructive business relationships with the 3PL management and negotiate continuous improvement and cost cutting measures appropriately.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
• Establish performance standards and objectives for the department that support overall plant objectives
• Collaborate with corporate indirect purchasing and sourcing professionals to align objectives strategically
• Establish and maintain defect mitigation projects that focus on controllable and executable improvements
• Construct optimal line-side delivery methodologies and formulate processes to support
• Coordinate with other departments and division/corporate staff to ensure sourcing projects and process improvements are implemented with no adverse impact on plant operations.
• Continuously assess 3PL risk and assign weighted risk scoring methodologies and performance data in sourcing decisions.
• Lead financial and performance reviews for the Material Handling department
• Collaborate and work closely with the MSS and Master Scheduling Asst. Materials Manager (your counterpart) to effectively award or remove business to/from specified 3PL’s.
• Develop department budgets and manage ongoing department expenditures to meet budget targets.
• Develop, train and improve unit and section manager skill sets and standard work within your span of control
• Self-Identify and drive process ownership, cost savings initiatives and continuous improvement throughout your organization
• Improve receiving and inventory control throughput, accuracy, and timeliness
• Provide Plant management with timely information regarding defect metrics and open sourcing project requests.
• Drive Material Handling corrective actions to increase efficiency and improve material flow obstacles
• Perform other projects and assignments as may be required.
Education/Qualifications/Skills
• Minimum of 10-years materials/logistics experience required.
• Minimum 7-years supervisory or managerial experience required.
• Minimum of a 4-year degree in business/supply chain related field (master’s degree preferred)
• Experience working with MRP manufacturing systems and statistical inventory management environments.
• Proven Leadership Background and Skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and issues.
• Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, presentation.
• Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Minitab software is a plus.
• Dashboard Systems Experience desired (i.e. Power Bi, Tableau) but willing to train.
• Applicant should have a basic understanding of Six Sigma practices; Green belt/Lean belt certification preferred.
• Applicant must be able to prioritize, successfully handle pressure, and work/make decisions independently when required.
• Successful candidate is safety-conscious, self-motivated, a team player, and can think proactively.
• Candidate must have flexibility to support operational needs and travel to suppliers and 3PL’s when needed (5-10%)
